Tachiki Yoshie
During a solo exhibition at a department store, I received sand and soil from a refugee camp in Bangladesh from a local NPO staff member, and used it to make handmade mineral pigments, which I then painted flowers blooming on the beach, which I then exhibited and sold.
At that time, customers who purchased works from me expressed their willingness to support the project, and I donated a portion of the sales. This triggered me to once again realize the potential of Japanese painting, which is not just about creating artwork, but can also naturally promote interest and understanding of social issues through art.
I would like to use my sales record in the national art market, my experience as a doctor of fine arts, and my experience as a merchants' association secretary to work toward solving social issues.
